How do I add a business description to Google My Business?
We noticed today that a new field has appeared in Google My Business, it called ‘Add business description’.
Why is this important?
It is sometimes difficult to understand what a business does just from its name, and it was only a matter of time before Google My Business allowed you to enter a description for your business. Google is quickly obtaining as much information as possible via Google My Business and using this to help then decide if your business should appear if some locally search for a product or service that you provide. So the answer is yes, to help you local SEO enter a description.
How do I enter a description?
- Login to your Google My Business dashboard. (Simply type in Google My Business in a Google search and the first listing should be the login page).
- Click on ‘info’ tab down the left.
- Scroll down to the bottom and you will see ‘Add a business description’, this can be up to 750 characters long.
Where does this appear?
